Visiting Hours (Angell Animal Medical Center and MSPCA-Angell West)

The hospital has many different areas where we treat inpatients. A description of these areas and visiting information is listed below. Please check with your doctor to see if visiting your pet during hospitalization is advisable.

        Critical Care Unit (CCU)

All critically-ill patients with non-contagious diseases are treated in the CCU, which provides 24-hour nursing and doctor care. Patients requiring oxygen supplementation, intravenous fluids or intensive monitoring due to the severity of their illness are treated in the CCU.

        Angell In-patient Visiting with Children

        • Children of all ages are allowed to visit their hospitalized family pets when accompanied by an adult.
        • Please keep your children?with you. Running and loud noises can be disturbing to the patients.
        • Your children should visit just your pet. Please do not visit with other in-patients.
        • Some hospitalized patients may have infectious diseases. Although the risk to humans is small, please avoid touching surfaces and other animals. Gloves and hand sanitizer will be made available if you would like.
        • Some animals may be aggressive towards people they don’t know. Please avoid being scratched or bitten by keeping hands out of other cages and away from other animals.
        • This is a working CCU. At times there may be sights and sounds that can be scary to children.

You will be asked to leave a deposit equal to the lower end or one-half of the upper end of this range (whichever is greater).?Payment of the balance is due at the time of discharge.

Financial Assistance is available to qualified pet owners. If you qualify for financial assistance your deposit requirements may be lowered.

        Financial Assistance
Angell offers financial assistance through the MSPCA’s Pet Care Assistance. Pet Care Assistance (PCA) was established in 1990 to support the medical care of sick or injured animals being treated at the MSPCA-Angell whose families have limited financial resources. PCA also defrays the cost of treating animals that are victims of cruelty and abuse. In 2006, the fund distributed over $363,000 to support the treatment of thousands of animals. Annual contributions, special events, and endowment income sustain the fund. For more information or to?apply for financial assistance, please contact our Financial Office at (617) 541-5028 or 5030. Please note: Pet Care Assistance benefits patients and clients treated at the MSPCA-Angell only.
